We all know what it is like to have Christmas "sneak up on us". We allow the busyness of gift-giving and travel plans to crowd out the quiet anticipation of Christmas. In his beautiful modern hymn, Come Behold The Wondrous Mystery, singer and songwriter Matt Papa invites us to experience the wonder of the incarnation of Jesus. Consider the first stanza of his hymn...
Come behold the wondrous mystery
In the dawning of the King
He the theme of heaven's praises
Robed in frail humanity
In our longing in our darkness
Now the light of life has come
Look to Christ who condescended
Took on flesh to ransom us
This year, we invite you to experience the beautiful mystery of Christ, "God with us", taking on flesh to accomplish God's unfolding plan of redemption for sinners. This is a time of looking back at God's promises to his people, as well as a cheerful anticipation of Jesus' future return to reign over all creation in love and peace as our righteous King.
